Alex Walker aiming for top spot!

As we head into a brand new season there will undoubtedly be many twists and turns ahead but two things that have been a fixture for a combined 343 appearances is Alex Walker and Will Lovell.

The pair graduated from the London Broncos academy, Will first in 2012, and then Alex in 2014 and despite both spending two years away from the club in the middle of their careers, they have been two names that have been at the club for countless highs and even some lows.

Steele Retchless is the man who sits proudly at the top of the record appearance list with 201 outings in a Broncos shirt between the years of 1998 and 2004. Chad Randall and Rob Purdham both fell just short of 201 tied with 197 but then there is Will Lovell on 173 and Alex Walker on 170.

Will is therefore - if a number of factors went his way - just one full season away from reaching the top spot. If he was to feature in all league games this season (as he did in 2024) he would also be tied on 197 however with the number of Challenge Cup and potentially play-off & 1895 Cup games still to be determined he could reach that magical number of 202 this season.

For Walker, being three appearances behind Lovell, it would appear incredibly difficult if not almost impossible to reach that number this season. However at 29, Walker is two years Lovell’s junior and is not afraid to admit that the appearances record is something he is very keen to claim.

“I’m a bit gutted about Will last year (overtaking me) as I missed a large part of the season out injured and he managed to catch me up so I will be eyeing him up and trying to overtake him.

“I think that's the aim for both of us, to go out and be the record holders of appearances. To go through it together and to be 1 & 2 would be nice - whichever way round that is!

“He’s got a couple years on me so I’m hoping if my body gets me through then I will nick it at the end.”

Will Lovell is sponsored by Rob & Mandy Smith and Alex Walker is sponsored by Michael D’Rews.

LONDON BRONCOS V HUNSLET (by David Ballheimer) London Broncos (16) 26, Hunslet (0) 6 London Broncos produced one of their most dominant defensive performances in recent memory as they beat Hunslet at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday night. Such was London’s control of the ruck that the Yorkshiremen had only one attack on the London line, and they turned over the ball-carrier before he could ground the ball. At the other end, Hunslet could not cope with the power and strength of London’s ball-carriers. The Broncos made a great start, scoring on their second possession, courtesy of Marcus Stock, who found a way through three tacklers before stretching over the line and grounding the ball. Most of the credit, however, belonged to Huw Worthington, who charged 35 metres downfield returning a kick. Four minutes later, Stock turned provider, turning in a tackle and sending Luke Polselli over. The half-back was able to run behind the posts to make Chris Hellec’s second conversion even easier than his first.

London Broncos announce dual-registration with Warrington Wolves London Broncos are pleased to announce the club has agreed a dual-registration partnership with Super League club Warrington Wolves for the 2025 season. The announcement further strengthens the links between the two clubs with Wolves youngsters Zac Bardsley-Rowe and Jake Thewlis joining on loan deals at the start of the season. We have now moved to make the relationship stronger by moving to a dual-registration agreement. This will allow the opportunity for players at Warrington to gain some valuable game time in the Championship with Mike Eccles side. With Mike as a highly respected coach we thank Warrington for entrusting us with some of their brightest talents. As part of the announcement both Tom Whitehead and Alfie Johnson will join up with the Broncos and both are available for selection for the next game against Hunslet. This week Jake Thewlis is named in Sam Burgess’ 21-man squad so returns to Warrington. #WeAreLondon
