London Broncos announce partnership with Merton Council
London Broncos is very pleased to announce a new partnership with the London Borough of Merton.
The partnership will see the Broncos working alongside Merton Council’s Sport and Leisure team to engage with people of all ages in the borough, and encourage them to become more active.
The Broncos will also be working closely with local community groups to divert young people away from anti-social behaviours and engage them in alternative education and activity projects including school holiday camps, school visits and ticket concessions.
Merton Council’s Cabinet Member for Sport and Heritage Caroline Cooper-Marbiah said: “It’s a pleasure to warmly welcome the London Broncos to Merton. I'm so proud that our partnership will bring the energy and skill of professional rugby league to more people in our community as part of Merton’s mission to become London's Borough of Sport. I hope this partnership inspires people of all ages but particularly young people to have a go and discover a new passion! We want to make activity a part of everyday life so people can feel all the health and social benefits it brings.”
London Broncos Chief Executive Jason Loubser said; “We are really pleased to announce this new partnership and further establish our links within the local community.
“Since we moved to the Cherry Red Records Stadium in 2022, we have witnessed and appreciated the support of the borough of Merton and this new partnership is a fantastic opportunity for us to work now together with Merton Council to develop ties with the area and give back to those that have supported us across the past two years”.
Merton is on a mission to be London’s first Borough of Sport. The council is investing in low-cost opportunities and facilities and working with local clubs and organisations so all Merton residents can feel the benefits of physical activity, and live active lives, for longer.
This new partnership with the London Broncos is a fantastic step in the right direction for the borough to achieve their objective.
