Player Biography

Connor O’Beirne is an Australian half who joined London Broncos in 2024 after impressing back in his homeland playing for the likes of Toukley and Maitland Pickers

The 27-year-old has spent the last few seasons playing in France’s elite competition with both Lezignan and Carcassone.

After his deal came to an end in France, O’Beirne believes now is the right time to try his hand here in England;

“It’s something that I’ve been interested in doing for a while. I’ve been playing in France and learnt a lot there playing a pretty good level of footy and during the winter I’ve been back in Australia playing for Maitland in the Newcastle competition and I learned a lot, they’ve got a really good coach.

“I know a fair bit (about the club). I already knew the welfare manager, Marty, from back in Australia so he has been feeding me some stuff so I’ve actually followed London a fair bit over the last couple of years. I played against Corey Norman when he was playing over in France and followed their journey when they came over here and won the Championship in 2023.

Standing at almost two metres tall, O’Beirne adds considerable height to any side but particularly in the backs and he believes he is ready to hit the ground running for his new club;

“I play in the halves but I’d say I have a big kicking game and I like running the footy and I’m a big body so I like taking the line on.

“I’ve been doing a fair bit of running in Australia so I am fit but the session we did today was still very tough having just come off the plane, but it was good and I’m excited.”

Alex Walker aiming for top spot! As we head into a brand new season there will undoubtedly be many twists and turns ahead but two things that have been a fixture for a combined 343 appearances is Alex Walker and Will Lovell. The pair graduated from the London Broncos academy, Will first in 2012, and then Alex in 2014 and despite both spending two years away from the club in the middle of their careers, they have been two names that have been at the club for countless highs and even some lows. Steele Retchless is the man who sits proudly at the top of the record appearance list with 201 outings in a Broncos shirt between the years of 1998 and 2004.
