Emmanuel Waine: “It was an honour and privilege to be part of this great club”

After two years in London, Emmanuel Waine will leave for pastures new at the end of the 2024 Super League season.

Arriving from Papua New Guinea a few weeks into the 2023 season, Emmanuel made an instant impact picking up a try and Man of The Match on his debut.

Despite picking up a serious knee injury, Emmanuel would play an important role in the Championship winning season, featuring in both the semi-final and grand-final wins.

Waine made his Super League debut in round 1 of the 2024 Super League season and scored his first Super League try at Plough Lane against Leeds Rhinos.

The PNG international will join Bradford Bulls at the end of the season but has written the following message;

“First of all, I would like to thank God for giving me the talent for his protection and guidance over the years.

“It was a great honour and privilege to be part of this great club. I would also like to thank coach Mike for trusting in me and offering me a contract to join the club and also people who were part of making my contract come through, especially Wellington Albert and his family.

“Secondly, I want to thank the players, we've been together in high and lows, in good and tough times, but we have stuck together as one. The moments we shared together will always be cherished.

“To our fans and supporters from Papua New Guinea and here in the UK, you guys are phenomenal. You never give up on us regardless of the result. You showed us how much you loved us week in week out and the heart you have for the game and the club.

“Finally, I want to thank my family, especially my partner. She is always there for me, giving me enough support, confidence and courage. I’m very happy to have such a wonderful partner. Also, thank you to my mum and dad and the siblings for your tireless support in prayers and words. I love you all.

London Broncos announce partnership with ‘Tickets for Good’. London Broncos are delighted to announce a continued partnership with ‘Tickets for Good’ for the 2025 season as we aim to make Rugby League more accessible to communities in the London area. The aim of ‘Ticket for Good’ reads; “We know how important live events are to society and culture, but we also know they can be difficult to attend - every year tickets are getting more expensive and harder to find. We are here to break down that barrier, by giving free and discounted live event tickets to the NHS and charity workers. “To achieve our goal, we have partnered with some of the UK’s best live event companies to source our tickets, helping them develop their audiences and increase their social impact through our members. “We want to expand our work to cover more and more sectors to increase event attendance for all.”

FULL MATCH REPLAY: London Broncos vs Batley Bulldogs
by Jake Watson 13 April 2025
LONDON BRONCOS V BATLEY BULLDOGS (by David Ballheimer) London Broncos (6) 14, Batley Bulldogs (6) 16 London Broncos suffered the agony of conceding a last-play try to lose to the Batley Bulldogs. The truth is that London paid the penalty for dominating large parts of the game, especially the early part of the second half, but wasted great attacking positions with sloppy passes, poor run options or ineffective kicks. This is not the Bulldogs’ first two-point win over the Broncos, not even the first on 12 April because, 44 years ago – my first ever away game as a fan – the Londoners lost 10–8 to the Gallant Youths at Mount Pleasant. There were five tries at the Cherry Red, four more than I witnessed a week before Easter 1981.
