London Broncos are delighted to announce the reserve team has now joined up with the first team squad at Rossyln Park where they will now be based permanently.
Jason Loubser, Chief Executive at London Broncos, says “I'm delighted to bring you an update regarding the London Broncos reserves as we move into the next leg of this incredible journey back into Super League”.
The squad, which will be led by Keiran Robertson, now begin preparations for the new season where they will be competing in the Super League Reserves League.
With the reserve side set to work alongside the first team, London Broncos Director of Rugby and Performance Mike Eccles says its a significant move by the club;
“It has been a collective ambition in recent years to get all teams back on to one site again to improve junior coaching and player development. Naturally, with all teams being on one site, first team involvement and interaction with junior players and coaches will drastically increase.
“We look forward to welcoming the reserve team back into training and remain committed to creating a programme that provides a clear pathway to first team rugby at the Broncos.”
The Reserves will kick off their season in March at home to Wigan Warriors.
Reserve team head coach Kieran Robertson says he can’t wait to get to work and is delighted to have retained a large proportion of the academy side from last season;
“What feels like the longest offseason it's great to have the reserves back in for a training session before Christmas and get them round the facilities and first team players at Rosslyn Park, and get that buzz back into the players.
“We will be ready to hit the ground running on the 5th of January building for the 2024 season, we have retained 90% of the Academy players which is fantastic for their development and continuity.
“I am really looking forward to being back in the fold and after speaking to the club and the vision they wanted to go towards with making the Reserves a development team and still having that focus on producing players for the first team.
“It was something that I wanted to be part of and progress from my role with the Academy last season. We have built a great coaching team and look forward to being on the same site as everyone else at the club and working closely alongside them to produce some great players and people.”
Full fixture list for the 2024 Super League reserves season will be available on the club website.
